10/17/2018 0 Comments Advice for next year First you will need to make meetings with each of the principals and talk about the project and what you are planning on doing. You will most likely have to make flyers and keep in contact with the principals throughout the whole week. We were too busy for updates since I was in Soccer and Dane was in Tennis we didn't have time to go to each of the schools and tell them who was winning. You should also make sure that your idea is very clear in your emails so that everyone is on the same page. We struggled to get the main idea down in the beginning but we talked with Mr. Large and he helped us out. Furthermore, we asked Mama Nitas for the pizza and they gave us a great discount. We ordered 40 pizzas half cheese and half pizza and split them up evenly for the winners. We picked them up and delivered them with the help of our classmates.
To collect the money we labeled jugs and ended up having to use some boxes to hold the pennies. We made jugs for each of the grades in the schools. Since the elementary schools were by grade it made it easy to find the winner in the end when we counted the money. However, when we had to find the winners for NPI and NPJH it was difficult because we didn't have the classroom amounts. We didn't think about this until the end... and we tried making a google sheet for each of the teachers to input there total classroom amount. Sadly it didn't work out and nobody used it so we ended up having to email each of the principals at NPJH and NPI and asking them who had the most. It ended up working out in the end but it would be helpful for you to be more organized, wether that is with more jugs or better communication. To get the jugs we called Frey Water Conditioning first to ask them, but they told us it would be expensive to buy the jugs because they didn't have any extras that were already used. Eventually we got the jugs from NPE and Dane's mom. Since she is the principal at Beach Grove High School she had a couple extra. Also Mr. Large might have the jugs in his conference room still so you can ask him about those. Finally, we had to deliver the jugs to each of the schools. So after school one day we made the labels and delivered them since we can all drive. To count the money we went to First Merchants Bank. To make this process easier I would recommend having a few extra people help you to deliver the change to the bank because it was a big job. Since the Homecoming game and dance were on the same night we left the bank after dropping off the money to be counted. Grace and I are a part of student council so we had to help set up for the dance too. I had the bank call me when the money was finished being counted and delivered the check to our administrators before the game started. During halftime they announced our earnings over the loud speaker (with the announcement we wrote). Then all of the student councils members from the schools who participated in Penny Wars met on the field at half time to be recognized.
